In our lives, we all have goals we must reach, but we don't always know how to get there. Whether it's a financial goal in business, a scientific theory that needs to be proven, or a different calling from God, it is essential that we create a plan to achieve our objectives. In Scripture we find the story of Joshua, a man who faced one of the greatest tasks in history: leading thousands of people into the Promised Land, the land of their birthright. However, Joshua had no idea how to accomplish this goal, and he was filled with doubts.

God recognized Joshua's doubts and spoke to him, telling him exactly how he would fulfill his calling. It is through this speech and Joshua's life that we can learn a valuable lesson about fulfilling our calling.

One of the most important lessons we can learn from Joshua's life is to be faithful in the little things. Joshua was Moses' assistant for a large portion of his life, serving faithfully to one of the greatest leaders in history. However, because Joshua was faithful and loyal to God's chosen, he was called by God to fulfill a greater calling. 

This principle applies to our lives as well. Sometimes, God asks us to be second rather than first, to be faithful in the little and often overlooked tasks in order to prepare us for a greater calling.

Another lesson we can learn from Joshua is that victory is found through God alone. Without God fighting on behalf of his people and Joshua, victory would not be accomplished. It is easy to forget where our success comes from, but as God informs Joshua, our success is found in the presence of God in our lives. Our success comes from God going before us, clearing the path of all who oppose us. It is through God alone that we find victory in our lives.

Finally, we learn that great callings are not for the faithless. When God gives us a calling or task, our first action must be to face that task with faith. We must believe that we can accomplish it and that God is with us every step of the way. Joshua's task was daunting, but he faced it with faith, knowing that God was with him and would help him fulfill his calling.

Reaching our goals can be a daunting task, but we can learn valuable lessons from Joshua's life. We must be faithful in the little things, remember that victory is found through God alone, and face our calling with faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
